luggage - transferring from 1000 to 1050
« on: September 19, 2022, 16:09:32 »
Does anyone know whether the standard Suzuki luggage (panniers and top box) from a 2018 DL1000 will fit directly onto the newer 1050 model?

thanks, thinking about changing and trying to keep the costs down.

Hi Chris,
I transferred the original plastic luggage from my 2016 1000 to a new 2021 1050. So Yes it can be done!!
You need to transfer the carriers from the rear footpegs and under the seat from  one bike to the other but it saves on complete new luggage and the fit is great compared to the Aluminium luggage which sits very high leaving the pillion squeezed between the panniers.

Thanks Ken,

That's good to know. Are you pleased you made the change? Thinking of doing the same.

Hi Chris,
Absolutely, the 1050 is a totally different bike. I changed from a 2005 1000 to the 2016 1000 and thought there had been a vast jump forward. I would say the difference between the 2016 1000 and the 21 1050 is the same sort of improvement. Much more useable linear power delivery, with quicker throttle response and seems to handle that much better.
I would recommend the change and wouldn't go back if I was given the chance!!
Cheers Ken

Sounds encouraging. Might start looking around. Good to know I can use the same luggage. Maybe the main stand will fit as well.

cheers, Chris
