odometer
« on: September 16, 2022, 18:48:45 »
hi, I was out for a run on tuesday, 2017 650 recorded 213mls but google shows 178mls. is it usual for the odometer to be 15+% out? bike is completely standard on correct sized tyres.   tia, sillyboy.

Pretty sure the speedo is read from the rear ABS sensor, it shouldn't matter what Size srockets are fitted.

@ Silly boy ..

Did you go the exact same route ..?

Google maps and the ODO never match.

speedos can read about 7% faster at around 70mph but not that much.

I have found Google to be out mileage wise on several occasions when making routes, once converted the mileage has been different on my Sat Nav.

Where are you getting the distance information from on Google Maps? The timeline feature, or maps/directions distance? It can give you wildly different distances depending on where you look (especially timeline).

maps/distance. I think I believe the bike -5% would be more accurate.

I once drove a lorry from Plymouth to Teesside. I checked the route, distance and time on RAC route finder before setting out and it was 1/2 a mile out with the tachometer when I got there. The time was over an hour out mind.

You could use the RAC route finder to a destination of your choice, ride it then compare distance.
