1050 Suspension Setting
« on: August 31, 2022, 08:02:11 »
Some have reported on here about the 1050 front forks being too harsh.  I took off three clicks of compression to get the bike to ride small bumps better, but was no means perfect.  Clearly a job for someone who knows what they are doing, I took the 1050 to JHS Racing in Keynsham (Between Bath and Bristol - famed for the set up of 44 teeth bikes on Youtube).  They spent about an hour setting static and dynamic sag and then "balancing" the compression and rebound on the forks and setting the rebound properly on the shock.
Interestingly, they said that, like the GSX1000R the forks sit "on top" of the treacle like standard oil in the forks and their fettling got the forks to work with the oil, not against it.
Anyway, this resulted in a much better ride.  Much of the small bumps and pot holes and drain covers are now handled as it should and larger undulations and cornering is improved as well.  An excellent return for the £45 outlay.
