I fitted titanium pins and new pads. The brakes didn't squeal before and didn't squeal after. I did use copper slip on the back of the pads similar to what Ianmc mentioned as I always have and thought everybody did. I know when the garage changed the discs and pads on my last car they used copper slip too. Anyway, no sqeal. I'll bet your breaks won't squeal either. Good luck.  :thumb:

Just came back from a quick test ride after fitting everything, didn't use any copper grease except the tiniest bit on the thread of the pins. So far so good. No squealing,  just lever a little spongey and slight binding which I expect to disappear when everything has bedded in. Will post another update when I've added some miles but it's looking positive so far.

My understanding is the grease on the back of the pads thing as a way of reducing noise comes from the practice of putting a layer of grease between the underside of the clip on type of shim and the back of the pad to act as a damper.
I know for sure that not many years ago some OE car pads [VAG] were manufactured that way for that very reason.
This vid explains what I mean.

As mentioned before, some people swear by it, others swear at it. Both arguments have their merits I guess. I've done it that way for years but this time I'm going without it.

Just put 50 miles on the pads. Probably around 90% bedded in now.  No squealing and easy set off the anti lock with 2 fingers. Couldn't be happier.
Last pads were definitely the cause as far as I can tell.
