Stator coil sizes
« on: June 14, 2022, 23:37:22 »
Bit of help folks.... my 2006 DL1000 had charging problems and I have seen lots on this topic already. Short version is all the magnets in the rotor were loose so I did the JB Weld fix etc.
I also bought a new stator coil but when I went to change it, I noticed it wasn't the the same depth. The existing one was about 24mm deep but the new one is only about 17mm on the iron core. Diameters both internal and external were about same.
Bought off ebay and advertised as a replacement and compatible with my 2006 bike. I haven't changed it yet but will this work OK being a different size? It obviously feels lighter too...

Thanks in advance

Do you know whether both stators are OEM or is one an OEM while the other an aftermarket product? An aftermarket stator may have a different gauge wire or number of turns per coil.
If both are OEM, what is the part number listed on the packaging?
If I recall correctly, the stator output wattage of the K2 Vee is 375W vs that of the K3 - L3 Vee rated at 400W.

Just started hearing about this stator business.
Was there a recall for it or did I dream that?
If there was a recall, which models/years are affected.....mines a 2015 650 (AL5 I think)

stator recall was for L2-L6 650cc bikes (2012-15 Glee's)

contact you Suzuki dealer with your reg/VIN, they'll be able to tell you straight away if your bike has any outstanding recalls.

Most should have been done by now.

As for the OP - generally speaking if it's listed to fit the bike, it generally should, but I'd check the box it came in - but then again ebay... not know for it's accuracy on parts fitment and quality... aftermarket stators of quality start around the £90 mark.
If you bought one of the Chinese £35 ones listed everywhere - do let us know next week how long it lasts.  :thumb:
