Yeah... I know it's only me that would dob a blob of Hammerite on some bare metal as a temporary job but then the brush is junk unless correct thinners are to hand. I use carb cleaner and it works fine and the brush is good to go again when needed.

My cheap chinese watercolour brushes have been used a few times keeping my frame touched up with hammerite! Brake cleaner seems to do a great job too

As does petrol, I always wash out my brushes in my lawnmower's tank.
