GoPro microphone adapter
« on: April 24, 2022, 07:17:36 »
Anyone with a GoPro Hero 5 black? Got the ridiculously bulky and expensive mic adapter? According to the internet it's the only way to get an external mic attached.
Well, you know that desk drawer with all the unused, spare snd unidentified cables in? I have a 3.5mm lavalier mic, which is trrs ( tip, ring, ring, shank) plugged into an adapter to bring it down to 3 pole trs. This plugs into my phone's 3 5mm to usb-c adapter, and that goes into the camera. It works. Two short inline adapters which could probably be heat shrunk together, gets rid of the big box.

Disappointing update....the camera is now refusing to recognise the non-standard setup. Ah, well...
