headlight bulb change on 650k7?
« on: November 05, 2021, 14:11:52 »
Trying to remove bulb. Got the connector off and the rubber boot is free at the edges, but it's somehow stuck to the bulb in the middle. Anyone know how to remove it?

Assuming the K7 Wee is the same as the K7 Vee then it's just pull harder.
The centre hole in the boot has ribs on the inner face and they can grip quite tightly round the back of the bulb, especially if it's been a long time between changes. I found the blood from changing the side light bulbs lubed them nicely though  ###

Yeah, you were right, the ribs were the pain. I actually found that out by googling the rubber piece and I noticed it had ribs like a spark plug boot. I found I had to reach both hands into that tiny space so I could have two hands to try to pull the rubber boot out and back rather than just back.

The side lights are a totally different story haha I think I'll be leaving them be for now!

Yep, don't touch the sidelights unless you absolutely have to. Both bulbs were missing from mine when I bought it and I just couldn't leave it like that :)
If/when you do attack them, just don't be tempted to pull on the wires rather than the rubber bung like a previous owner did on mine. You'll have a hell of a job pulling the tangs out of the rubber bung with tweezers ;)
