1050XT After market exhaust
« on: November 08, 2021, 11:17:35 »
I was giving the brake callipers and pads a clean-up before putting the bike away until spring. I removed the exhaust (which comes off easily) to get easy access to the caliper. WOW, that can is super heavy. After market can's claim a 2kg savings. I am thinking of going down this route but would like to know from anyone who has changed theirs if there was any detriment to the way the bike's engine behaved. And did any dash lights come on .

I was going to go down that route after feeling the weight of the std pipe but what put me off was that on the black widow pipe anyway you have to remove the silver gasket from the down pipe to fit it and that involved ripping it to bits & having to get a new one to refit the std pipe and I bet its not cheap  .

When I removed the can , the silver gasket in your photo remained inside the can. Is this photo showing a new gasket or the original one ?

I thought KTM were bad wanting £12 for theirs when I swapped exhausts, but that's just taking the piss.
