Tool kit
« on: June 07, 2021, 13:03:44 »
Hi everyone,
so when you are overlanding or on a long trip what tools  :fix: do you carry? What are your must haves? what are your best hacks?

If there is already a thread for this if someone could point me to a link that would be great :ty:

Tool kits depend on what bike and what your abilities are with a spanner.

I personally carry enough tools to take both wheels off, enough to undertake light maintenance and puncture repairs.

Same here plus a clutch cable,I could repair a throttle cable with the repair kit I have on board, but a clutch cable has a lot of weight on it so I prefer to simply have spare especially in Europe.

The, last big trip I did I took loads of tools and a shed load of spares all housed in a home made trailer, needless to say none of the tools/spares were used as the Vincent behaved unlike the girlfriend who filled up the trailer with duty free on the way home  lol lol

Did the Wales weekend a few years back, 900 miles in a weekend.
Serviced the bike beforehand, no tools, just an AA card.

Having had a major kit for my RTW trip and only used some of it, now have the standard kit plus a 12mm allen key so I can get the front wheel out, plus a compressor that is small enough to fit in the tail section with the toolkit, plus a mini enduro kit which had some useful socket and screwdriver bits in a small pouch. Lastly a puncture kit that uses the stringy things which seem to seal better than plugs.
