New DL650 Handguards
« on: June 22, 2021, 23:27:15 »
As any of you who have been unfortunate enough to either drop the bike or clip something solid, you'll know that the standard issue handguards for the DL650 are made of a unique blend of tissue paper and cheese... (or at least they behave that way) and replacements are, at best, around £50 a pair...

However- mooching around some Chinese websites for a replacement front mudguard [which has inexplicably just broken in half and shed its arse end somewhere between Epsom and Normandy], I found this:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000934391833.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.29843c001mxnHB&mp=1

Which has them at less than £22 for a pair, brand new.  I can't attest to the quality, but they look kind of OK from the pics (which, I know, could be fakes)  at some point I'll order a pair and let you know how they look.

No mudguard though, just coughed up £68 for a replacement... :GRR:

£68 for a mudguard looks cheap when I just paid   £59 to pyramid plastics for the most dainty f-e-n-d-e-r extender and hugger extender of my KTM 390 :bawl:

Agreed - £68 (delivered) was the cheapest I could find on the net, in any country - and was the cheapest by at least a fiver... - twenty five quid on some sites  ###

£59 for mudguard extenders does seem quite steep though - It's supposed to be a couple of bits of plastic ffs!  what tf do they make it from - unicorn tears?

I don't know how much interweb legwork you did and I am well aware how much of a faff it can be, but at the risk of terminally pissing you off there's this:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001280106348.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.3c454cceOu7pvQ&algo_pvid=c54afbed-29e0-46b9-9211-9614cf428880&algo_exp_id=c54afbed-29e0-46b9-9211-9614cf428880-2

(KTM390 front mudguard extender £8.77)

and this:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001524078464.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.3c454cceOu7pvQ&algo_pvid=c54afbed-29e0-46b9-9211-9614cf428880&algo_exp_id=c54afbed-29e0-46b9-9211-9614cf428880-1

(KTM 390 rear mudguard extender £17.76)

Totalling about twenty six quid...  I can't attest to the quality, but if you're patient enough to wait a couple of weeks - that's quite a bit cheaper

Too late, the items are on my desk (on a towel to mop up the Unicorn tears)

Then apologies for pointing out useless sites which will only irritate...

You at least have the satisfaction of knowing that the parts you bought are genuine OEM (with the obligatory unicorn tears :) )
