Vstrom 2014 DL1000 suspension settings
« on: February 28, 2021, 01:40:43 »
Hi. Can anyone advise what they think is the best suspension settings front & rear. I’m not 100% sure what the factory / dealer default is, but mine feels too firm ?  Sorry to sound a bit ignorant but I’ve only owned this  2014, 750 miles on clock for a month so still getting used to it !

Have a look at the service manual available in the downloads (https://www.v-strom.co.uk/downloads.htm). For more info on suspension, have a look at https://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,7132.0.html and https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=37133.0 Then there are you tube videos available if you do a search, for example "Setup your motorcycle suspension...  - youtu.be/0kCGoDjtnM4 " Note: paste the youtube link to your internet browser and search

That's kind of like asking us what size clothes you should buy: suspension settings depend on the height and weight of the rider, whether you carry a pillion, luggage, riding style, etc. The manual should suggest settings for what Suzuki reckon is an average rider.

Yes, agreed.

A good set-up on one Vstrom doesn't mean they'll work on your bike.

Find a basic set-up then adjust to your liking from there.
Basic Suspension adjustment instructions should be in your manual .

There are a couple of suspension set up specialists in Lincolnshire (Grimsby and Market Rasen).

Probably worth investing in an hours labour to get it set up perfectly for you.
