Not sure I've ever come across that specific recommendation either, but it wouldn't surprise me. After all, the service check lists used to recommend replacing the brake hoses every four years. I can't say I've ever done a hose replacement just for kicks.

My brothers 08 fireblade manual says the brake caliper bolts should be replaced everytime they are removed, they never have been.

Yes that sounds like what I read somewhere either in a manual or on some forum,
they recommend changing the crush washer on the oil drain bolt too.maybe it's every time you remove it not sure. I only ever done that once on a bike I bought that had no crush washer at all on the drain bolt.
I suppose changing the brake lines at some point wouldn't be a bad idea, I might change to braided lines as I think I'll keep this 650 till she dies and keep her as a year round bike.

Just had a quick gander in the service manual, there’s no recommendation for changing caliper bolts, 39 N-m if you didn’t already know and no thread locker specified either.  :thumb:
Should say this is for 1000, just checked yours is a 650 so I can’t confirm for that model.
