Lowered foot pegs failed
« on: January 12, 2021, 19:02:34 »
A bit surprised the foot peg lowering plate bent inwards after I changed to alternative peg, stood up and it just let go. :icon_exclaim:. Glad it happened at home in the garage

I do know the make, but I purchased second hand so whilst they looked perfect who knows if they suffered abuse previously - so I can’t name and shame. I’ve ordered some new ones from Cosmo (a different supplier).

Fair enough. I've had the Cosmo ones for c. 7 years without issue.
(There are reports on here of one make failing...)

That’s reassuring to know I appreciate your feedback, they’re currently stuck in Greece with an ever widening delivery date - not sure if this is down to Covid or Brexit or something else.

I have had the Cymarc lowering plates on my 650 for about 7 years now and no problem. Although I don't stand (very often) when riding, I do use the nearside footpeg to stand on when the bike is in the garage to reach into a cupboard above the bike. That's my whole weight on one peg and I'm not a lightweight 14 or 15 stones!!

If you look up a member called Bigcats30 he’s posted on a thread last year regarding failed lowering plates

Thanks just read it. Typical that I just ordered them last night other wise I would have ordered the Cosmo version.

Fingers crossed they’ll be OK!  :handgestures-fingerscrossed:

Mine were fine for 8 years and almost 25,000 miles until I sold them and the glee separately. Standing up on pegs, clambering on and off the bike using the left peg as a step. No issues. And they were Cymarc.

Thanks, to be honest they’re ordered now so they’ve got their chance.

I also had the Cymarc ones on my DL650A L3 for about 4 years with no problems, but did not stand on the pegs much
I do wonder whether they have changed the material(s) used

I have the Cosmo ones on my DL650AXT M0 and I have to say they are excellent quality
I bought these because they are about 2mm thicker than other makes and a fair bit cheaper
Vasilis (Cosmo) told me that their ones are thicker because most of their customers go off road and stand on the pegs
Don't ask how well they are doing, as due to circumstances beyond my control, I have only been out once since fitting them  :bawl:

Yep I had two sets fail from Cymarc so went with the Cosmo ones from Greece and they are almost twice as thick

SO far so good but nowhere as many miles put on them
