Clutch adjustment 2012 650
« on: December 06, 2020, 13:44:18 »
I had assumed this would be a straightforward task and using a locknut and bolt at one end of the pushrod. Apparently not on later bikes! Why did they make it so difficult I wonder.

Is your 650 a late registered Wee ..? If it's a 2012 it should be a glee and the clutch,  from memory isn't adjustable at the front sprocket end, only at the lever.

It is and it is, but you have to drain the oil and the coolant before taking off the right hand cover where the adjuster is.

Yes, the clutch cover has the water pump on it too.

I assume setting up the clutch at the engine end is really a strip down/rebuild measure. Most cable s t r e t c h problems should be resolved with a new cable, unless the adjustment in the engine is a long way off.

Has your Glee got high mileage?

We used to get new cables often because of breakages which now seems to be a lot rarer.
So how's it going so far then?

As already asked, has your bike got high mileage ?, there really shouldn't be a need to touch that adjuster unless you have a seriously over stretched cable or replacing the clutch.

It is of course possible that the friction material on the plates is severely worn down. It you have a worn clutch it would probably be in slip mode and you can't adjust it at the handlebar.

Cable is my guess.
So how's it going so far then?

I just wanted to check it. It has low millage but the clutch lever only pulls in to the bars 80%. It works fine but I just wanted to check the end play. I won't be bothering any time soon. Thanks for the replies
