Removing air box
« on: November 09, 2020, 16:58:31 »
Has any one removed the airbox on a 2018/2020 v Strom 1000.
I want to remove the airbox so I can have a look at the electrical connections at the front of the bike, as the early bike's have had problems with water getting in some of these connections.
Hopefully Suzuki have rectified this problem on the later bikes !

I seem to recall the 14+ 1000 did have covers over them. Maybe some one will confirm.

The 2014 models had no covers at all. There was a recall for the main ignition block to be covered but no other blocks where covered at all. The 2017 face lifted model will have the ignition block covered from the factory but I'd  bet the others are still uncovered.
You need a very long 3mm allen key (like a tommy bar) to get the front airbox disconnected, you can see a wee tunnel on the bottom lefthand side of the airbox to get at the bolt.
Just cover everything with bicycle inner tubes to be sure, I did this 5 years ago and no trouble since.
