Ignition Fuse Blown
« on: October 29, 2020, 19:12:52 »
Hi, any ideas as to why my 10a ignition fuse could have blown  Got stranded in work today. Found it was the fuse.  Replaced it and blown again  ###. Cheers

I'll go with corrosion or bare wire touching the frame if it's rubbed through

If you didn't tap into any wiring recently, then perhaps you can try wiring a headlight bulb across the fuse terminals, to simulate a fuse. When a short occurs, the bulb will light as soon as there is a short to earth. This should save you on fuses while trying to trace the fault. You can push the harness around, to see what area might be causing the problem or shorting out.

I had the same problem on my 2015 650 and after 2 stints stood by the motorway and much faffing about it turned out to be an intermittent fault on the switchgear on the right hand side, mine would go fine for weeks then pop 3 fuses in 15 minutes,I replaced the switchgear and no more problems.plus of course by then the entire loom and connections had been cleaned checked and waterproofed before I found the fault so the bike was electrically sound throughout, shame about the corrosion

Those connectors above the radiator are the work of the devil. Even if they look OK, clean them out and pour ACF50 in them and cover them with opd bicycle inner tube.

Check the wiring on the left hand side of the bike under the seat . Had a short on mine there which was blowing the same fuse.
