Caliper pin plugs.
« on: February 22, 2023, 13:38:35 »
Can anyone recommend an hex key replacement for the oem.
I normally use ProBolt but they don't seem to list 2017> 650's. Although they probably do a stainless one to suit.
Ta me ducks,

Also, I spose I might as well change the pads whilst I'm cleaning the rear caliper, are EBC174HH the accepted go to.
TIA,

If you are talking about the plug with the screwdriver slot in it that is a pain in the b*tt to get out, just get a 1/8 BSP plug, the original are 1/8 NPT.The thread is virtually identical to the original and fits spot on,they have an Allan key fitting and are a little longer so stick out a little more than the original.
Yes EBC 174HH are the pads to use in my opinion.

Thanks Ian, hadn't really thought about obtaining non specific fitments, but a quick check online shows generic stainless grubs in metric too.
I'll just need to measure the thread size before ordering......or does someone already know?
I bet you do?
Thanks for the pad info.....

UPT…….. As stated the thread size is 1/8th.BSP.(one eighth British Standard Pipe thread) and it’s called a “plug”.
BTW,it is no good measuring the thread diameter with BSP stuff,it has more to do with the pipe ID than OD.Just take your old one with you when you buy.
This is a brass one,I prefer steel or stainless as they are tougher.

Sorry forgot to add that to get a tapered plug ,add a “T” at the end of BSP as in BSPT,that will get you a plug that will start in the threads easier.
See below for an example. As you will see they are cheap enough so buy a few.Any Plumb Centre should keep them.
