headlight adjustment/bulb replacement
« on: September 08, 2020, 16:57:49 »
In the past on other bikes this was a 5 minute job .But I have read the handbook and it would be easy if I could get to the adjusting screws and bulb . The plastic around the instruments needs to come off to get access, but how? Someone must have done this and it surely can't be too difficult , I dread to think of trying to replace a bulb on a trip which I have done twice in the past on other bikes.  My bike is a 2019 650 vstrom by the way. Any advice welcome as I surely have not got to take it to a dealer just for headlight adjustment

Thanks for reply. Very fiddly but managed with small 10mm spanner.  Don’t think I would be able to replace bulb that way but let’s hope that’s some way off

Tried this evening after dark.  Still far too high. I turned adjuster about 4 flats anti-clockwise and main beam still up in the trees so try again tomorrow with maybe another 10 flats and see how that goes . Update tomorrow evening

Got the lights adjusted to the correct angle by trial and error so main beam is now on the road and not up in the trees. Very fiddly with a small 10 mm spanner but no bodywork removed. By the way it is definitely clockwise to lower not anti-clockwise as I had read on this forum.

It is much easier to do with a long reach screwdriver.  It would be better though if Suzuki managed to get the lights focused at the factory.  Honda seem to be able to manage this.

The pre-delivery check at the dealers should sort this out.
