Bleed tube / Lowered pegs
« on: June 27, 2020, 00:40:18 »
It’s time to change the brake / clutch fluids on my Strom, I need some plastic pipe to complete the task - does anybody know the correct size pipe I need (looking on eBay they seem to range from 4mm to 7mm internal diameter.
Also looking at lowering the pegs maybe with some SW Motech products that’ll take it down 15mm, or I may try another route with another supplier like Kosmo or Cymarc they lower the pegs by 25mm.
Question: The Kosmo kit uses a plate to drop down the brake pedal, you get an extension for the brake rode but I see no extended spring for the brake light switch.
The SW Motech pegs simply attach to the existing fitting, and using a clever connecting bracket allows the pegs to move from stock height to 15 mm below etc. Would the existing brake light spring and brake rod handle a 15mm drop on the pegs?
Failing that is there somewhere I can source a longer spring should it be required?
Thanks

If your model is like previous ones the brake light switch moves with the pedal and footpeg. It's all on the same backplate, they move as a unit. There's enough slack in the loom for the electrical connection, too.

The tube that I use for bleeding brakes / clutch fluid, is the same as used any fish tank hobbyist, the standard transparent air hose. These hoses can be purchased from your local pet shop. The hose lengths are sold as per your requirement, ie cut to order. The fish tank air hose is a tight fit on the bleeding nipples.

As Gert said. I bought mine from the local garden centre. It's also the same size hose used by Scotoilers too  :thumb:

Gert & UK _Vstrom650 that’s useful info, hadn’t thought of that  :thumb:

Rusty Nuts, On a gen 3 1000 Suzuki in their wisdom have changed that little detail, the switch remained stubbornly attached to the frame. So maybe I’ll need a small extension spring, I’m fairly sure there isn’t enough adjustment in the switch itself to allow the spring to drop down.

Stormy, I think a clip from any major Japanese manufacturer should fit (just avoid Chinese replicas :smirk:)

I need to take a look around and come up with something hotbulb, depending on which way I go (Kosmo or Motech 25mm v 15mm). I did spot an American kit essentially the same as the Kosmo assembly but they do provided an extra spring. I’m sure I can adapt something to work safely.  :thumb:
