Torque problem
« on: May 09, 2020, 15:04:13 »
I have fitted new Suzuki crash bars to my 2009 v Strom but I am worried now when I attempt to tighten the uppermost engine nut on long bolt which goes through top of engine supporting the bars. Problem is unfortunately my torque wrench only goes up to 54nm and I think the top bolt should be set at 93nm. Is it safe enough just to tighten nut beyond the 54nm using a normal wrench til it feels as if it is tight enough   , any useful advice welcome

I've done it all by "feel" 3 times (3 sets of bars on 3 bikes). No problem at all.

I'd use the measurement "That should do for that"

Do it by feel. With engine bars I wouldn't be tempted to use thread lock either. These bolts have a habit of being hard to remove if needed without the threadlock.
