Nick, the top of the screen is 143mm from the floor. The tops of my mirrors, Aprilia with extenders/risers, are 139mm from the floor.
Unfortunately I can't find the original screen to offer it up to check.

OK, I was just wondering why your measurements were so different than mine. The OP was interested in minimal hight so I adjusted mine the lowest way possible and got 19cm.

Nick, I've just reread your original post and you say the screen you're using now works OK, it's just the wind noise. Although I get no buffeting I still get wind noise. Do you wear ear plugs?

Most of the time yes. I've also got the Halford mirrors fitted. Maybe I'm asking for too much but I'm sure my old Transalp was much better with the Vario screen.
Nick.

I put an MRA screen on my 1000 soon after I bought it in 2015. For me at 6'1 it absolutely transformed the ride without looking like a sail on the front. When I changed to the 650 last year I put the Suzuki version of the MRA on and again it made a huge difference. My wife, when riding on the back, claims she is in a quieter bubble of air than when she was on any of our previous Pan Europeans. I guess that in the end it is always a bit of a compromise, after all we are on a bike not shut in a tin box  :) :)

I fitted an MRA X-Creed Touring to my 2017 V.  Excellent once I got the angles right.

Then I fitted a pair of mirror extensions to the stock mirrors and was able angle the mirror heads To help deflect the wind outwards.  £11 off eBay.  Good investment.

On all of the bikes I owned the only fight I had was against buffeting, not the noise. So all of the changes on my 3 V-Stroms were different mirrors, mirror extensions and Givi Airflow. That solved buffeting 100%.
But on my previous '14 DL1000 and actual '18 DL1000 new problem appeared: huge wind stream hitting my belly, then rising and entering with high pressure into my helmet from below. My eyes were watering all the time and different helmets didn't help. So it led me to another installation, wind flaps from BMW GS. I only modified them slightly to fit them right and the problem was solved back in 2014. Later transfered them to my '18 model.

I put a vario screen on a VFR and it was rubbish so I was concerned when I bought the AL650 with one fitted but it is fine and works well but it is on the max setting, I am 5ft 10 1/2 if that helps anyone :-)
