MRA X-creen bolt on
« on: March 22, 2019, 09:39:53 »
I have done a few hundred miles since getting my 2018 1000XT, last week.
So, questions for you seasoned V Strom owners!

Has anyone got experience of the MRA bolt on lip?
Filled my bike, when the dash stated "25 miles " left and only got in 15 litres until the blow back shut off the fuel, just below the inner collar . Is this normal?
I am, admittedly, a 5ft 8inch "weakling" - but how the hell do you get it onto the centre stand!!! Is there a nack to it?

Really enjoying the bike, so much better than my previous 2011 BMW R1200RT. The instruments are much clearer, the handlebar position, for me, is much more natural and the mirrors are the best that I have ever experienced.

Cheers

Ian

Have a look at this . It explains how to put a bike on its centre stand.

I have an MRA X-creen sport you're welcome to try.  Mine is the one where you don't drill holes too so easy to take off.  You're only an hours ride from me.  If you like it you can have it for £40

Thanks for the offer

I am going to be away from tomorrow until early April. Perhaps we can arrange to meet up, during the month?

Cheers

Yes no problem.
I sometimes take a ride out over towards Bridgnorth and stop at the Food Stop Biker cafe in Quatford.  Could perhaps meet there or whatever.  Always a good turn out there.

I have DL1000 but filling up the tank takes a while. I fill up to the neck then I pull out the nozzle and align it just a bit bellow the edge where tank cap close on. Then I keep on filling it up but I have to do it very slowly and sometimes have to stop and wait until the fuel accumulated in the neck goes down. All this process takes some time but this way I get extra 3-4 litres. One important thing is not to do it if you're going to park the bike immediately after. Do it only if you have at least a dozen a miles ahead to ride. That way, you avoid overpressure in the tank, especially if you're going to park in the sunshine. Sure do, the tank has the breather but some say if you fill up to the cap the breather is covered with fuel, so I just don't take any chance.
This is my 3rd V-Strom and I always used this technique with no problems at all.

MRA is excellent, you won't regret it once you find the correct position for your setup.

Fuel: Fill it up to the limit (the lower hole bracket within the filler cap hole), then if you have a steady hand you can get at least another 2x litres in if you fill it slower.

Centre stand- it's all in the foot pressing down (your body weight) on the stand as you lift with the right hand on rear passenger grab handle... foot is everything ;-) I'm 6 2 and I like using the side stand because I'm lazy.
In my defence, she did leave me unsupervised.

Appreciate the advice!

I have now got the bike on the centre stand, after watching the YouTube video. I was not putting all of my body weight on the stand leg and was trying to lift it up with my arms - rather than simply pulling it back.  My previous Beemer, although heavier, did roll onto the stand easier.

Cheers
