Brakes
« on: July 29, 2019, 17:22:14 »
Question
I've done a front brake rebuild
Nothing leaking
Tried normal bleeding, clamping brake lever overnight, raising front end in the air
My next option is to get a vacuum breeder and try that
Is there anything else I could do or is there something I might have missed
Tried looking at the past forums
Thanks

Sounds like you don't have the right technique? Maybe you do but you've missed something like start bleeding from furthest then closest. Then do it again in that order another three or four times. Tap the hoses from the bottom up to top to dislodge bubbles. Don't be afraid to use lots of liquid.

When done properly there's no need to strap the brake lever back overnight.

Just suggestions.  :icon_wink:
So how's it going so far then?

Try energising the ABS unit (ign on off on off on off) a few times first

Have you read any of the following: https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=19727.msg181469#msg181469, https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=28858.msg287271#msg287271 or https://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=30801.msg304524#msg304524?
There are a few videos on youtube, on how to service / bleeding the front brakes. Some of the videos are by Dr Strom.
If that does not work for you, you can google reverse bleeding the brake video, whereby the brake fluid is forced from each caliper end, up into the reservoir.
Let us know how it works out.

I have had this a number of times on various bikes, I always overcame it but it took time and was a pain. Have had lots of different bleeding tools, including a power bleeder, but the only thing I have found always works is the vacuum bleeder that pulls the fluid through from the caliper….there are plenty on amazon and eBay, but they all seem to have bleed hoses that are too big, so a bit of jiggery pokery is required.
