horn problems

My horn has become very muted and sometimes doesn't work at all. How would I go about repairing this?

Replace it with something like a Stebeil (sp?) Nautilus Compact. The compact version doesn't need a relay or additional wiring and it may even save your life  :thumb:

As Fat Rat says, you could also check your connections, make sure they are all good.

Mine had to be replace on my last Vstrom, it had corroded and was slightly damp inside so sounded a bit lame  :fix:

The stock horns on most bikes are a bit feeble. I had a Denali Soundbomb for about 6 months on my Strom. Great when first installed but it quickly became unreliable. I replaced it with a pair of loud twin tone horns. I was pleased enough with them that I have now fitted a pair of the same type to my Super Tenere. A great improvement in sound over the standard offering.

+1 on TallPaul's Ebay horns, although I've wired mine through a relay.
Cheap & loud.

I have the same as tallpaul and also wired through a relay. They're great at getting you noticed in situations where the stock horn would have been useless.

I've had two Stebel Nautilus air horns in the past, and whilst nice and loud, they both gave up after a couple of years.

Sillyboy,  apply vinegar and rub it vigorously with the sporting life paper, it works a bit like smelling salts.
Report back how you get on....... :eusa-doh:

wurzel, I took your advice and now my stroms horn just burbles pathetically, nowt comes out. :GRR: Was I just supposed to rub the wires?, or maybe I rubbed too hard

Is balsamic vinegar OK, or chip shop standard?
