Just a straight forward .... what miles are you getting out of your chain and sprocket , A,B roads , motorways and a little off roading......what is the preferred replacement.

Everyone will be different Andy,  depending on how well they look after the chain. I'm weekend rider so it's usually in better weather and I'm at 25k miles now on my oe chain and sprockets, might be a bit left yet but I'll change them over winter just in case.

I have 16,000 mls on this set,I turned the front sprocket around at 13,500 mls.(ish).Had a look at it last week whilst sprocket cover was off and all looks fine and hardly any wear on the load side.So hopefully I will get another 10,000 mls.out of it,but need to start having a more regular look at it.If I can get 25,000 mls out of it I will be happy. My useage has been mixed on this chain set,at a guess 40% motorway,50% country lanes and backroads,10% town.I have a Loobman chain oiler on it,which has been no bother until last month when the button started sticking, removed it and a good clean sorted it.

As Porter said, everyone will be different. I've got a 650, used on A, B roads & motorways, no off road, and got 26,000 on the OEM before I changed them. The mechanic who changed it said he would have been happy to put another few thousand on it if it was his but I was off on a 3/4000 mile trip a few weeks later so wasn't going to risk it!
What to fit is also a choice but I went for DID chain & JT sprockets. Bought from here.........

I have used a PD oiler (mini) from the beginning and I think it was a help.

On my 650 I get about 13500 miles then the chain starts to bleed rust from O rings ,now on 3rd set & trying out a scottoiler to see if this improves the mileage .

Chain and sprocket mileage really depends on the owner and,  if it's well looked after good mileage results can be achieved.
Regular maintenance is essential and of course how conservative you are with your right wrist .. ????

Ianmc if you check the front sprocket the bore is chamfered on one side so should not be turned around.
Do it today as there may not be a tomorrow.

Ianmc has a K9 650 so the front sprocket can be turned around.
The 1000's can't be turned around.

currently in Australia on my RTW trip. Just changed C+S kit after 19500 miles which have included unmade roads as well as long periods of Canadian interstates, in addition to twisty New Zealand roads.

I removed my front sprocket cover the other day for an inspection and was surprised by the crap in there, I got the bike with just short of 3,000 miles on and fitted a Scotoiler (As I always do) and have added another 3,200 to it, The clutch pushrod had some mild pitting on it where it lies in front of the sprocket itself, and polished that up with a stainless pan scrubber pad,  think I'll make it an annual event now seeing what it's like?
I'm well pleased with the front sprocket wear as you would expect for 6,200 miles, hopefully with next years mileage it will show more Cupping on the lead edge!
