Bikes on auction Ashburton, Devon, next week.
« on: January 20, 2018, 19:05:50 »
There's an auction house called Rendells in Ashburton, Devon, which is auctioning, among other things, 5 motor bikes next Friday 26th January. Rendells link is here : http://www.rendellsfineart.co.uk/default.htm

The lot numbers are 1211 through to 1215 inclusive. Can't copy the images, I'm afraid but here are the descriptions from the online catalogue:-

Lot 1211
A Yamaha child s motorcycle with shaft driven 50cc engine - no documentation included

Estimate: £ 50-80

Lot 1212
A mid 20th Century Royal Enfield Flying Flea RE125 lightweight motorcycle with 125cc engine - for restoration no documentation included - sold with spare front forks fuel tank and engine

Estimate: £ 100-200

Lot 1213
An Armstrong MT500 British Army motorcycle with 500cc 4 valve Rotax engine and pannier frames - no documentation included

Estimate: £ 1500-2000

Lot 1214
A Harley Davidson MT350 Bombardier British Army motorcycle with 350cc 4 valve Rotax engine front panniers and gun-carrier-case rear pannier - no documentation included

Estimate: £ 2500-3500

Lot 1215
A 1958 Triumph TR5 motorcycle with 498cc 4 stroke twin OHV engine 4 gallon tank replacement seat frame number T100018358 - sold with V5C registration number ESL 974

Estimate: £ 4000-6000

Not surprisingly, given the estimates, the Triumph is the pick of the bunch (in running order, I believe) but the Armstrong and the HD are interesting machines, and appear complete. I was going to bid on the Triumph myself but have meantime been tempted by a Bonneville T100, but I'll be going along just to watch the fun.

And, for those cynics out there, I have no financial interest in either the auction house or the items up for sale. I just wondered if folk might be interested.
