Oxford heated grips - help please

My Oxford heated grips no longer heat up.  They have an on/off button which turns them on to the lowest heat setting and two buttons marked with a plus and minus signs that regulate the temperature.  The on/off switch works once the ignition is switched on but the regulating buttons only ever worked with the engine actually running.  This has now stopped so I can still switch them on, but can't increase the heat, even with the engine running.  Any ideas please before I begin dismantling the bike to follow the wiring?

p.s. I've cleaned the switch inside and out to make sure it is working so I assume it is a wiring failure somewhere

Sounds like you've got an old set of Oxford hot grips and the controller has decided to give up, lucky for you though its black Friday and you can buy the current model for £64 or last years model for £50

Main differences are the amount of heat settings (5 vs 9) and how everything connects together (blocks with clips vs waterproof screw caps)

The old controller was known to develop problems. The new controller is more robust. There are other controllers available too though, if you use the battery for the source connection, most other controllers won't shut themselves off shortly after the ignition is turned off.

What model Oxford grips do you have and how old are they ?
The Oxford controller has a safety cut of point to stop your battery going flat which is why you can only select low power (if you have the later versions) so, this suggests you have low voltage feed going to the controller.
I would suggest checking the voltage at the point where the grips are wired in with the bike running. Oxford grips don't like voltage below 13.5v otherwise they will only allow you to select low power.

If you have the older version it's definitely the controller as they are known for being unreliable. If you call Oxford products and ask nicely they have been known to send out an upgraded version but this depends what model grips you have .

I just fitted a set of Oxford Hot Grips. They are really easy to fit especially if you have one of Bigpies auxiliary fuse boxes.
Fitting is just a case of pushing them on, connecting the waterproof pugs and sockets, fitting the controller and linking to a power line operated through the ignition. They remember the last used setting, so just leave them switched on in the cold weather, mine are set to 20% as it was only 7deg outside this morning.
