As reported before on here I fitted some Kyoto pads on the front after having read some good reports of other sites. Big mistake! OK in the dry but downright dangerous in the wet. Ended up in the bin, so not recommended. Fitted some Goldfren S33 pads and am very impressed. Better than OE pads and very well priced. Have had EBC pads on a variety of bikes in the past and always found them OK but pricey.

Just to give me more options do you know the product numbers for both the front and rear ?.
I've always had EBC but am open to suggestions from others in the know.

I had a rather different result with Goldfren front pads. Great lever feel, OK ish at bimbling speeds, horrific when making progress. The lever was still solid but barely any retardation. I binned them and fitted EBC HH.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

OK I'm going to stick with EBC, well known brand, along with recommendations on the forum, be silly not too really.

Re. Goldfren pads. Their basic pads (AD I think) have come in for some criticism, but like EBC they do a range of different compounds including HH spec. ones. The S33 are a competition pad. I also use them in my Honda 500 race bike. However, like with most sintered pads, I've no idea how long the discs will survive with them. Their Goldfren part numbers are 104 and 124 and can be picked for around £25 for both sets.

By and large, racing pads are meant for high carbon steel discs and need to be hot before they work properly. They will wear out typical street bike stainless steel discs in a hurry and not stop well with ordinary street use.

Not all sintered metal pads are racing pads though. My 2007 Wee has reached 126,000 miles with a second owner on its discs using EBC HH pads on the front.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Have always used SBS or Bendix pads on my other bikes.

Last brake rebuild before parting with the vee I fitted EBC V semi sintered pads all round. Really impressed with them over the 1k miles I that I ran them. Bedded in quickly and seemed better than the organic pads that were fitted before.

Used EBC for years but don,t think they are as good as they used to be now use SBS which feel to be a different standard altogether, problem is I converted to braided hoses at the same time, so I almost certainly have two areas of improvement.

Could you confirm that the pad numbers are as follows for the front are SDS 704hs and 705 hs and the 657 ls for the rear. As I'm new to the V Strom, I like to find out about these things in advance, so I don't make a boo-boo. Better to look a fool than be one.
