Glee with lower fairing
« on: May 01, 2018, 19:38:49 »
Today I saw a Glee (close up as I walked past) like mine with a full lower fairing in matching red. When I got home I searched for images of the lower bodywork but only found it on the initial V-Strom 650. Is it a 2nd gen option, I have only seen it in pictures on a 1st gen 650) or does the bodywork fit both? That I doubt..........

To re-cap..... it had the Glee tank/side panels; the lower fairing was in matching red and there was no black moulded sides either side of the radiator, a complete, enclosed bodywork.
So how's it going so far then?

On reflection it was probably that Rusty Nuts. I had to double take at the time, it was the Glee tank and the full under fairing. Perhaps I didn't register the 'gills'.

Glad to see I haven't imagined it unless you've photo-thingy'd it.........

Any info on it, like is it a Suzuki bit or aftermarket?

Not sure it suits the bike's adventure allure, eh?

I don't think Suzuki offer this option but with out doing research I'd take a guess that powerbronze make that type of add-on .
Doesn't suit the bike in my opinion .

Use the forum search for " minge grinder" (yes, really  lol  ) and you'll -eventually - track it down .

A beak would help, take your eye off the ugly lower fairing! If you have a nice v-twin why hide it.

I think it suits the beakless bikes quite well, but the beak type would look odd.

Beaks always look odd! That lower fairing looks as well thought out as Donald Trump's hair

If you have a nice v-twin why hide it.

Unfortunately the V-Strom hides the engine up a lot with the aluminium box frame and 90° config. You only see the front cylinder.

It looks quite sparse and unfinished without a skid plate or skirt fairing on the Glee IMO.

So how's it going so far then?

I guess that mod should help keep the water off the front plug and keep the engine a tad cleaner. Besides the extra protection, it gives the bike a new look.. enough for a 2nd look.

While it may protect from road spray or puddles, I always have wondered if it could enhance rust as it difficulties "air drying ". Specially when the bike is park for a while...

Also, not particularly convinced by the look of this one  :icon_exclaim:

What? You're saying my Glee has another cylinder?
Oh - that's why they call it a V-Strom then...

You probably knew that........   It's a trusted and proved unit that Suzuki have sucessfully used against single, twin and even triple engined oppostion for the last two decades now.

It is true though that suspending the motor from above has put a lot ot frame, large aluminium box section, in the visual path of admiring two cylinders. The fact that it's liquid cooled also detracts from the visual attraction; in all that means the rear cylinder is hidden and the flowering 'fins' are no longer necessary. Some motors have tentative decoration to mimic the past.....a bit.

You can't include the V Strom amongst Moto Guzzi and Ducatis V's or even BMW boxers which still have a very strong visual appearance of the engine cylinders. And then there's H-D's..........
So how's it going so far then?
