Have you ventured forth to the stealers to maybe trade up, or price for a new one next year?

Not much response to this one! Either no one is been back to trade in or were happy as things are,
I personally have just Moved up to a 1000, a second hand one with low mileage (2,225 miles) as a damage limitation deal as the best offer I've had for my 650 which was registered 6th march this year and has 5,949 miles on it and still mint condition with all the extras is £5,020!!! the norm is £4,850 book price, Suzuki discounting may look the deal of the century, but only at the initial purchase it's all down hill from there! This is great news for S/H buyers but what second hand market will be left when people wake up and start walking away from the dealers in search of a better bargain in the second hand market.

So did you trade it in or did you sell it or try to sell it privately. In my experience the only way to get value out of a new bike is to keep it a few years then at least you get the use out of it and the depreciation doesn’t seem so bad over say 3years as opposed to 6 months.

For instance there’s a 2015 up for sale with 15k on it for £4550, 3 years ago he’ll have paid 6k for it yet he’s asking £4500 for it having said that it has lots of nice extras so I’m sure someone may see it as good value however if you could pick up a 6mth old new model for £5250 it suddenly doesn’t seem such a deal. Much of that perceived value for money is reliant on the availability of bikes for sale when your looking to buy.

Again in my experience you tend to get used bike buyers who are happy to have a decent bike and new bike buyers who want that new bike feeling, newest model, 1st owner etc etc and are happyish to pay for that privilege. I’ve been looking for a different bike for a few years now, I’m completely flexible I may buy new if the deal was right or most likely I’ll buy used but I wouldn’t discount either option.

Yes I did the deal but havent got it yet due to the dealers workshop overloaded with new reg's going out, but have been promised it next week, I'm happy with my purchase as the 650 didn't do it for me on motorway journey's as it sounded laboured, but the 1000 is geared better, and does all the other stuff as well if not better, I love the Vstrom as a bike for it's simplicity and being a great all rounder and reminded me so much of my old TDM900 and it feels similar to ride, but the strom steers so much better  :thumb:
