The relay kit is a vaccination rather than a cure. Do it early to prevent problems later on.

For my K2, I bought these and plugged them right in with no alterations whatsoever. They worked fine for two and half years until I sold the bike and as far as I know they are still working fine. They were brilliant.

So called Xenon effect Halogen bulbs

On the K8 GT, I bought another pair of these and plugged them in. They worked great for a couple of weeks and then the headlights refused to come on. Changing them back to the originals had no effect so I assume the power pull (higher amps) have damaged something in the wiring system as the contacts have been cleaned and there is no problem with them it seems. I still have to check a couple of other contacts but it seems to be a power surge issue since it only happened when the bulbs were changed.

Maybe you could check the same on your bike

I feel a need to talk about blue coated bulbs. The coating cuts out some of the available light. The blue color it emits is the color most scattered in fog. That means the coating does two things and both are bad. I would advise against coated bulbs except for yellow ones only used as fog lights.

I had the exact same problem. High, low and side lights all went out when on a long stretch of unlit country road.
Thankfully the mrs was there on her 125 to guide me through.

Turned out it was a black connector rhs behind the rad. Cleaned the contacts, checked everything was well again and rammed grease into the connector.
Didn't have any issues for the next year until the bike went.

Just thought I would mention that showing blue lights to the front may well get you a visit from a patrol car !!!!

Mr Diver "Turned out it was a black connector rhs behind the rad."

Not in my case, looks like its now rubbing though the insulation from the frame interference.... There is another thread on here about it, funny co-incidence , well not bloody funny at all really !!

I'm now worried that more wiring loom issues will present, seems everytime she gets wet..... something electrical goes wrong....

Sorry . Fed UP !! ###

After 3 hours in the mechanics, my fault was found to be the white connector box (L/H side) behind radiator which feeds the L/H switch gear. Removed, soldered wires & wrapped up. 3 hrs work=£105. Not too bad.

I hope the other connectors behind the radiator were wrapped at the same time...
