2014 VStrom 1000 screen
« on: March 12, 2017, 20:17:40 »
Evening all,
Has anyone replaced their stock screen for an aftermarket jobby? If there's one thing that has annoyed me since buying my bike is the turbulence generated from the screen. I've monkeyed around with loads of settings finding the best being the screen on its highest setting and the tilt on low. I'm a lanky bugger, 6'2", and tend to suffer from wind blast, no puns please, so would appreciate hearing of any experiences you blokes have had with this problem.

Ta  :ty:

hi cobby,  I've fitted a mra Vario screen to mine, not only can you move it like the standard screen, the Vario lets you fine tune you're setup, bought mine from his in Germany, if I remember correctly it was only about £80.
Arrived 2 days later, great service :happydance:

I have both the mra and the givi airflow. I fit the mra in the summer and the givi in spring autumn as it gives better wind protection but looks naff. I'm 5 11' and with the mra I need it in the highest screen holes but the givi is best in the lowest,  so at your hight the mra might be to low. I find it OK till about 80mph,  windy after that. I'd just like the mra to be an inch or two bigger all round.

I've just fitted the Givi Airflow and it was fine on the only ride I've been on since fitting. 80mph on the motorway with the visor open, no buffeting.

Another MRA screen here, I'm a short arse so don't need a huge touring screen, the MRA looks much better than stock and reduces the buffeting.

I have the Suzuki touring screen on my 2016 V Strom 1000 and found the buffeting quite bad. As a consequence I purchased an MRA Sport X Creen and what a difference this has made. I don't get any more buffeting.

Many threads here on the forum re this. Always had MRA before (great screens) on other bikes. So many on the forum suggested the Givi so I went with that. Perhaps not so appealing on the eye but it really is excellent.

So much easy adjustment. Long distance stuff is a stroll in the park  :)

I was getting a fair amount of buffeting from standard screen, so having read a few reviews on here brought an MRA screen with the flappy bit on the top. What a difference 75 mph and not a hint of a head shake and a fair bit quieter as well. Looked at the Givi screen but I don't like the looks, I don't do a lot of motorway miles, so MRA suited my needs better.

Good and interesting conversation, I've still got the original screen 3 years on and I'm thinking about changing mine , I must admit I like the new screen on the new vstrom 1000 it looks taller than mine ??
Hi Dougie looks like an orwells picture , if your ever about up there gives us a shout , that's where my Veek came from .  :thumb:

Puig on mine with the additional screen thing in front.  Not sure how best to set that up so I just have it parallel to the other screen behind it.
