« on: March 24, 2017, 09:44:03 »
Aldi are doing motorsickle stuff soon, March 30th, best bit for me with anything from them is the 3yr warranty, nice on Leccy gear. Think the intercom is not rider to pillion sadly.. I think.?

The mid layers look decent. I've got a pair of Base layers from aldi and they're fantastic

Chain wax, chain cleaner, and bike covers for me please. The bike covers are the best I have ever used!

Well mine has been on for over a year now and its still going strong! Two bungee straps through the holes front and back keeps it nice and tight.  :lala:

There are a couple of reviews of them over the last couple of years from happy customers who say they play music, take calls, use Siri (other personal assistants are available) as well as function as a radio between headsets.

How did the headsets turn out? Worth it or shall I scrape together a bit more for something better?

Re the £40 headsets;
They look okay, though not as well made, and with such good materials as flasher versions. Earpieces are quite big, though smaller than my Autocom ones. Boom mic looks big by comparison with Autocom version. Info states the unit is waterproof, no idea how effective the waterproofing is but the charging/headset jack looks like a possible ingress route, having said that similar designs use them, so maybe they're better than I imagine. Read through the manual, (yea I know..what kind of a bloke reads the manual.? technophobe ones is the answer) seemed easy enough, so with the unit in my hand I connected to my phone (old Samsung) and was able to answer a call, and call the last number I'd dialled. But couldn't figure how to have it read messages. Listened happily to a radio via my phone, but didn't attempt to connect to my Garmin satnav. I didn't fire up the second unit either, but the guide suggests you need to press the side button each time you wish to talk. Decided for me, they offer little over my Autocom, especially as I'd use them simply to chat with my pillion, so they're going back. I could imagine if you needed some for bike to bike/occasional chat reasons.. I.e.  "I'm busting & need a p../need petrol/lookout speed trap!" type conversations, they'd be great.
Glad I tried, but not best suited to my needs. ;-)

I have the same headset, but not from aldi, I use it on my blood bike helmet. Great for phone up to about 60 mph on a fjr. I use it for music from my phone, that works well too. Never tried bike to bike, but it is waterproof and it will last me a whole 12 hour shift (turning off between jobs). It's bulkier than others, but the upside to this is that it's easier to operate.
Can be bought cheaper on Amazon.

Don't suppose you have a link for the one on Amazon? thanks

I got the Aldi base layers, merino wool mid layer and biker socks and Kevlar jeans, the jeans will be good on a hot Summer day, they just have Kevlar around the seat, and some around the knee pads, pockets for hip armour, don't know where to get the hip armour though.

Sorry shop/link now gone, but if you search for 'bluetooth motorcycle' you'll find loads. Mines still going strong after 1 year through some pretty shitty weather, but like with a lot of cheap stuff I may have been lucky.
