Exhaust Paint
« on: April 11, 2017, 11:04:39 »
My Vee's exhaust has now lost its shine and is looking a bit rusty as per the pic. I've seen some exhaust paint in black and silver.
Has anyone else used it? Or would it just look naff?
Cheers

Had it on my SV650 use a satin finish spray can, and not matt finish the satin looks nicer and blends better with your crash bars, fine wire wool the down pipes then wipe down with a panel wipe to remove the muck makes for a better finish.

I use Harpic max 10 to clean mine, was a bit "oh yeah, right" when first told about it, but it worked a treat  :thumb:

Not me in the vids, but it shows what it can do

If someone told me that toilet cleaner could do that I would have said BS....but over lunch in the car park, after a quick trip to Tesco(it was on offer at a £1).
Took all of ten minutes. Ultimately I think it will need a coat of paint as DLste mentioned to stop it rusting again.
But for a quid and ten minutes effort, I'm not complaining.
Thanks for the vid Loz

1 bottle of harpic on my shopping list.

Pug27 if you go down the silver route read the instructions on curing carefully, I spent 2 days sanding, cleaning, painting, lacquering and they looked the dogs whatsits until about 10 minutes after I started it up. Once the smoke cleared they looked worse than when I started. I guess the black wouldn't have the same issues.
