Hydraulic Clutch leak
« on: February 18, 2017, 10:36:26 »
Hi All
went out for a spin on the bike yesterday, when I got back and gave the bike a clean and a once over I noticed the Clutch fluid was not showing in the window upon opening the reservoir it was completely empty. looking around I cannot see any leaks so it must be the slave cylinder !!!, has any on else had problems with this and will it be covered under warranty.

I've just had this on my V-Strom but mine is a 2008 model and I don't think it was greatly looked after.

I refilled the reservoir and then bled the system to get all the old fluid out. Not had a problem since.

I don't know bugger all about warranties.

Just found the same issue with my 2015 DL1000. From other threads I have seen this could be a a common problem. Not sure about warranty and as I am in Thailand I may prefer to do the job myself. Anybody have a part number for the slave cylinder seal and if possible a supplier. Thank's in advance.

Ravetech, if you struggle to find the part there, I will go to my dealer, (decent people), and order what you need and send it out to you.
I don't know the part number,or anything about the issue, but will happily get the parts you need once someone has established what is at fault, probably just a slave cylendar seal kit.
pm me if you get stuck.

Cheers Wurzel, that's real decent of you I must say. I have pulled the seal and it is simply worn out. Bike only has 30,000 km so they must  be made of butter. I will see if I can match it with another at the local auto store first. Fingers crossed.

I had this happen to me last year riding round the ring road in Rotterdam , what a complete shit . Had to pull in to a petrol station and by some dot4 and fill my reservoir up but a waste of time as the seal had one seated it self and it leaked like dear lizzers bucket . Called breakdown and was taken to a Suzuki dealer in Lidden Holland , he repaired it for 20 euros and it's still holding .
I did get it checked out by my dealer when I got home and all is fine . A common fault so I have been told ???  :thumb:
