Glee right indicator not working
« on: December 05, 2016, 08:30:19 »
On my ride to work this morning I discovered that my right hand indicators weren't working. It was working last week and has sat in my garage all weekend. All indicator lights work fine when using 4-way flashers and the left hand indicators work fine as well - so it is just the when indicating right that I have problems.

Any suggestions where I should start looking?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

Andy,

I'd be investigating in this order;

1. Indicator Switch (I'm assuming that the Indicators aren't fused separately from the Hazards)?
2. The connector that runs from the bars inside the left fairing to the frame (it takes the smallest amount of corrosion for this connector to play up, you may need a magnifying glass to see it).

I'd also be reseating the relay, 7 pin just in front of the battery, just in case it has worked it's way loose.

Checked the fuse - it is one fuse for the turn signals so can't be that. Have tried taking out and reseating the relay - the contacts look fine in there as well. Have also taken the switchgear apart and cleaned the connectors and this didn't fix it. Then had a look at the connectors inside the left fairing - pulled them all apart and can't see anything suspicious. They are also already covered in white grease so they should be fine.

Looks like a trip to the friendly local mechanic is in order :-(

Thanks for the suggestions,

Andy

It sounds like it's the indicator switch or connector for the switch

If you've checked all the other stuff, then its probably the yellow connector behind the radiator. Needs the tank & airbox off to get to it properly.

I had a similar issue
http://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=29070.msg301026#msg301026

No real solutions, but might help with investigating.

It's probably not the relay, because one relay makes both sides blink. The power wire switches inside the handlebar switch, I think.
As Fat Rat said, it's most likely a connector in the lhs fairing or behind the radiator. In my case it was probably a bad connection somewhere near the latter.

After my effort of taking the bike to bits on Monday evening I quickly admitted defeat and took it to the garage. The issue was caused by a corroded connector - I think behind the radiator - so they just cut it out and replaced it. They have previously replaced some of the other connectors (when I had headlight issues) - next time I should just ask them to replace all of the remaining original connectors!

Thanks again for all the help and suggestions.

Hope they've wrapped them to make them waterproof. Crap Suzuki electrics strike again  :violence-smack:
