Tank Protectors

Hi Folks. I 've noticed that my tank is beginning to show scuff marks where my knees rub. Suzuki do a protector set, but they are black and I rather like my red tank. Has anybody found a neat solution, or am I alone in this ?

Can you not just get some of that 3m paint protection stuff and cut it to size?
