Glee front mudguard bolts
« on: July 29, 2016, 13:00:54 »
Fitted a mudguard extenda today so removed mudguard. Why on earth is blue threadlock on the dome head bolts? I didn't want to use heat due to the mudguard being plastic and they were a pig to remove. They bolts are made of that cheese like metal so they have gone straight in the bin and replaced by something better quality and fitted with copper grease rather than threadlock. In 39'yearsbof biking imhave never hadna mudguard come loose.

It's so common an issue I made it a sticky warning thread at stromtrooper. Many people have spun the rectangular backing nut trying to remove the bolt and torn up the surrounding plastic.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

I replaced mine at Christmas when I changed tyres and fork oil. Nylon threaded nuts and covered in a big splodge of ACF50 corrosion block on each. Spent more time getting those square nuts off than I did replacing the fork oil  :dl_smiley_banghead:
