Hastings Insurance tip
« on: September 24, 2016, 15:44:46 »
Slightly irritated to get a renewal quote from Hastings Direct for £5 more than last year, even though I've got an extra year NCD.

So gave them a call to query this. Computer said no.

BUT then she offered to request a new quote, which she did - £20 LESS than the previous quote. Can't argue with that, but a shame you have to phone up and hassle.

All that aside, I really can't complain. Fully comp on my 2012 Glee with 5 years NCD - £79.57. I'm happy with that.

Just show it pays to always phone up and query.

We are with Hastings for our car , every year the renewal arrives on the door matt, I open it, laugh a bit then call them up. This year they dropped it by over £100. Suppose you don't get anywhere with out trying .

Do it!

I started off in Sheffield and have gradually moved SW, now in Chard (which is not that far from Exeter).
You'd love it down here, everyone would. :)

Yes it does. Depending on how ridiculous the renewal fee is going to be I either ring them up or go on all the comparison sites for a better deal. If I am calling them for a better deal I always have the computer handy so I can relay a few quotes to them and if they can't match my cheapest quote I don't renew.
I have no loyalty to any of these companies, they are only after my money anyway, so I am quite happy to chop and change every year.

Yup - hard to beat this neck of the woods. And some great biking roads. Last week I discovered the B3220 from Morchard Road to Winkleigh, then on up to Torrington. Brilliant, and almost no traffic. (Except a tractor shoving its nose out of a field without looking - arse-clenching moment when you're glad you were 100% focussed).

But back to insurance - yes, some of it is geographic. But there's a huge range out there. Lat year I got quotes from (I think) Carole Nash and MCE, both around the 300 mark. My previous insurer was Aviva at about 270.
