Front brakes rubbing
« on: July 04, 2016, 19:40:14 »
After returning from a ride yesterday I wheeled the bike back into the garage, I noticed a rubbing noise coming from the front brakes, is there anything I can do to remedy this or will I have to take the bike to the garage?

When was the last time you changed your pads? They could be worn down to the metal .

Could be a few things
1) quite correct, your pads may be down to the metal.
2) You may have something like grit stuck between pad and disc, moving it backwards might bring it out if that's the case.
3) Could be that pistons are sticking causing pads to make contact with the disc.
Anyway, with out have a good look, could be a number of things, if you have a centre stand, and a small jack, jack under engine until front wheel just off the ground, and spin it, see if you can find the noise.

Thanks for your replies, I've had a look and still don't know what it is, so I have a mechanic picking it up this Friday. I'll let you know the outcome.

Cheers
Si.
