V Strom aftermarket windscreens
« on: July 01, 2016, 23:33:56 »
Hi all, anyone ever fitted/used the Powerbronze w/screen on the 650 Vstrom ? it's 495mm tall compare to the 420mm standard Suzuki screen, being 6 foot 3" I'm really suffering from wind blast, any experience or recommendations chaps ?
Cheers.

I bought mine with one fitted so can't compare it to standard. I'm 5'10" and get no buffeting at all. Even with standard mirrors. If you live anywhere near Frome, feel free to pop over and try it.

Hi Rogon, many thanks for that kind offer, much appreciated, I'm in mid Wales so Frome is a good way off I'm afraid, but thanks for your info', I've just realised that Suzuki do a "Vario" screen, it's quite tall and has a sort of small 7 position screen on top of the main one and a dealer has said it does a lot to relieve buffeting so I'll post a thread to see if anyones got experience of that, I'm not keen to spend £120 and then find out it's hardly any better, thanks again pal.

Hi modeoman I have a powerbronse screen fitted to my DL1000 iam 6ft.4 and even though it is a lot better I still get buffeting, I have the wider and higher one, I would imagine it would be the same on a 650 ? Having said that it is a nice bit of kit if I can remember how to do it I will ad a picture.

Hi AS Smith, Hello thanks a lot for that info', mmmm still get buffeting, that's interesting, nice pic by the way, as per my last post I'm going to investigate the Suzuki "Vario" screen before making a decision. PS I like those spotlights on the side there, what brand are they ?
Cheers.

Hi mondeoman they are just cheap ones off of eBay from china I think they were £18 with free postage, they are very good nice and bright I have one of big pies (member on here ) aux boards fitted and have the lights fitted to a switch the only thing is when you turn them on some times they are on a strobing sequence but just switch them off and on and they reset there selves and they are fine. From my recent findings with screens, size is not the answer. Shape is more to do with it as well as angle & adjustability.

I think the 2 front runners are the Givi Airflow and the MSI.
I'm running a standard screen with the Givi top screen DIY'd to it and that is mounted on a Madstad bracket (I'll post a thread about it soon), and finally I have no buffeting and very reduce wind noise.

What do you think about PUIG? It exists in various heights and color.
Someone has it? Impressions?

It's all here http://www.v-strom.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=30025.0

I was getting pretty pee'd off at the thought of having to buy everything on the market to see what works but I seem to have struck it lucky quickly with my current combo.
Whatever you get I'd say there needs to be an element of adjustability somewhere, I don't think a fixed larger screen will be the answer, but no doubt it was for some... such is the nature of this problem...
