This is the captive assembly that your Bar end screws into, the Nut on its own was over £7 before discount

Platinum surely. :)
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Dealer wanted to charge me £14.00 (£3.50 for each) for the four little chrome plastic caps for the alan bolts fixing the handlebar clamps. I declined and went home in a huff. Fortunately, two weeks or so later, I relocated the little pot  ( 35mm film case) In which I had stored them.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

I really did wonder whether I should open this thread, or leave it. I wasn't sure if it was one of those "special internet things".

In the early '80's I worked for a Yamaha dealer when the FJ1100 was first introduced and there were two little plastic square bits of trim with built in hooks that plugged into each side of the fairing to cover a screw access.
Shortly afterwards people were breaking them, when removing the fairings for service and to replace they were £72 plus vat each!
