OK, I was not as daft or old as I thought, filled with oil, still not working, so had a closer look, and found that during all the work I had done, must have damaged the feed pipe, as it had a crack in it, I thought the oil on the suspension linkage was "fling".
Lucky enough, when I fitted it, I did not cut the pipe to length, just coiled the excess behind the panel, there was just enough to cut the damaged part out.
Now its working fine
