Brake upgrade
« on: May 24, 2016, 19:23:37 »
Anyone got any suggestions for beefing up front brake bite. Compared with my old GSX my 14 plate Glee's brakes are really weedy and scare the witsk out of me. No initial bite and have to pull hard (not easy as still recovering from a broken thumb). Will try bleeding but anyone else fixed same problem or have any suggestions. Grateful for steer.

SV Racing Parts make brackets to take CBR and the like callipers.

Other than that you're looking at bleeding and clamping the front brake lever back to the bars.

But the mrs' GSX does stop very well, I've nearly stood it on it's head more than once.

I'm going to put EBC Double Sintered brake pads on mine .

I've heard good reports from others about them

I used ebc Hh sintered and it didn't give very much feedback and did have a tendency to lock the rear far too easy.
I'd recommend
HH front
GG rear

Suzuki have updated the spec of the Wee parts when the glee came out with HH sintered all round.
HH now standard all round on all stroms now.

M&P once didn't have ebc organic in stock when I needed them once so I went for Ferodo Platinum. Stable, predicable braking and lasted well.
I now only buy them.

Hi,
On my Vee I tried everything to improve the standard setup, in the end I gave up and bought hornet 900 calipers (£50 ebay) with sv racing hangers  (see website in America for price), braided lines (£40) and a cbr954 fireblade mastercylinder (£25 ebay) .
Result = 1 finger braking ..  :thumb:
If your bike is ABS it's a bit more difficult but otherwise you can do the same .
