Changing gearing.
« on: May 20, 2016, 20:22:31 »
Before we start this is for the Varadero, but relates to the Strom.

Like the Vee, Veek and Glee the Varadero's speedo pickup runs from the engine output shaft not the front wheel like it does and my old wee.

I want to change the gearing to make it a little less sluggish as it feels like you're starting off in second when you are in fact in first.

If I swap the rear sprocket for one with a few more teeth how would this affect the indicated speed.
The indicated speed reads 8% over atm.
Will it get closer to the actual speed or get further away from actual.

I'm usually good with things like this but this ones got me stumped.

Larger rear sprocket, slower road speed  for same gearbox output speed, you'll be going even slower than the speedo thinks.

Bollocks

And there is no speedo healer for the Varadero.

#edit. There is a speedo healer... I just can't spell on ebay.

Hi ,
When ever I've adjusted gearing on bikes the speedo has always read faster than you are actually going when you lower the ratio .
