Brakes
« on: March 27, 2016, 17:07:25 »
Hi all.
Just getting ready to overhaul brakes and have a question
Are the pad shims important. Mine are missing when I got the bike front and rear. I do not know why. I have managed to find some rear ones but cannot locate any fronts

They keep any noise down. Amateur mechanics have been known to throw them away with the old pads rather than transfer them.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Thanks

I think that is what has happened here. I bought ebc front pads. The Suzuki ones come with shims. Perhaps I will buy Suzuki next time

Shims are available separately. You can buy the shims to put on the EBC pads if you want.

Just apply copper grease on the back of new pads and you'll be fine.
DL1000 2017 white
DL1000 2014 red (sold)
DL650 2012 white (sold)

Thanks all.
If I have not got hold of any by the time I do the work, will apply coppergrease, just waiting for new rear line to turn up and I am already to go.
