Dropped it!!
« on: January 07, 2016, 18:26:52 »
 :angry-banghead:
Dropped my Glee in the car park this morning... I'm not sure exactly how it happened but I guess I must have just forgotten to put the side stand down...
Last time this happened was 20 years ago when the side stand snapped (rust) on my DT125...
Please tell me I'll only do this once every 20 years... I broke the left foot peg, it wasn't easy riding home with only one foot peg!!

Can't guarantee 20 years but it will make you paranoid about checking the stand for a while....
Bit unlucky breaking the peg.

 lol... Hopefully I won't drop the Glee again soon!!
I read another post where someone advised always shutting of the engine by releasing the side stand while the bike is in gear... Sounds like a great habit to get into...

That was me. Trust me, takes some time to get used to that but once it becames your habit, you'll never "forget" the side stand, nor your bike will ever roll of the stand because you've left it in neutral. It's simple, leave it in gear and shut the engine off using your side stand. Don't touch the key until you get of the bike.

On the bright side you didn't get hurt.
It's all part of biking (well that's my experience anyway).
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

bugger, glad you are OK, bits of bike can be replaced, bit harder for you to have bits replaced !!!!
I have not dropped my Wee yet !
I did drop my old F650GS doing a tight turn, front wheel went out on some derv on the car park at work, did not do any damage. But, picking the thing up again on my own was, a challange, to say the least, as two bad knee's and a fused spine do not help.
Dread to think what I would do if the Wee went over, as it feels like it weighs more.

Been there my friend. Half way through a (very wet) tour of Scotland last year. Luckily just a smashed indicator. Managed to bodge it with a lemonade bottle and some electrical tape.

Only time I've ever dropped my Bike was when I had just got my new Bandit( a few years ago) 100 miles on the clock. Came back from a short bibble, went to stop out side the garage to put it away and didn't notice the slight dip into a drain on the right hand side. Over I went laying the Bike down as I couldn't hold it on that side, busted indicator gravel stuck in the nice new blue fairing  ### Not a happy bunny.  It's easily done but it does make you more aware.
