Seat height
« on: July 06, 2015, 09:38:55 »
Having gently enjoyed a 2.5 hour ride on my DL1000 there was just just one thing niggling me, the seat height. I'm 6.3 and find that I could do with raising the seat a couple of inches or perhaps lowering the pegs instead.

Does anyone know if the seat is adjustable, and if not, any after market seats that might do the job.

Cheers

There is a "Touring Seat" option that is 20mm higher than a Vee Seat (and 40mm higher than a Wee Seat).

See HERE for some pictures.

Also consider the Footpeg lowering kit, it makes a big difference.

Lowering the pegs could make them ground out on bends though & the Vee can scrape the pegs quite easily as it is.

I never had a problem on the Vee, Wee or Glee.

The Lowering kit doesn't just lower, it puts the peg forward at a much more comfortable position.

The pegs on my Vee get a regular scraping without riding the bike particularly hard. My comment was simply based on the theory that reducing the height of the peg & of course the 'hero blob', will reduce the angle at which the blob first makes contact with the road.

Out of interest, what's the height of the pedal from the ground on a standard Vee? Just in case mines had the ride height tampered with in a former life.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check out both options and let you know how it goes.

I don't find the lowering kit makes me scrape the pegs, but then I don't ride like that anyway.

What you may find (and TallPaul has the same problem) is that if you have big feet you will start to scrape your boot sole under your toes. I've started to tilt my foot slightly inwards on roundabouts to stop that happening.
