Palmer products screen bracket
« on: June 26, 2015, 17:58:02 »
Hi this is the solution to my Sat Nav issue I had. I wanted my Sat Nav centre above the clocks. All the brackets I found were all ram mounted. Easy to nick. So I have fitted this Palmer screen adjuster. Used my tourtech locking cradle for my Zumo 550 and bolted it to the cross bar of the adjuster. Works brilliantly. Hope the pictures show it well enough.

I am well chuffed with the result .the plus side is NO BUFFERTING

how do you find the palmer mount?
I'm looking at getting one for the Varadero after having a Madstad on my Wee.

The cost delivered was £81.00 including the bracket for the Sat Nav. And postage.

The mount is very well made. I haven't needed to do any adjusting yet as the initial setting seems to work well for me ( I am 5'8" ) it does bring the screen forward .that initially looks odd .I think this helps with airflow as allows air under the screen as well. I am very satisfied .

I can really recommend the Palmer bracket. I have the standard screen, a Puig screen extender and the Palmer bracket, and it seems to get rid of the dreaded buffeting very nicely. It doesn't just allow increased air flow behind the screen (which seems to negate turbulence coming over the top of the screen) it also allows you to tilt the screen into a more acute angle, which also helps. The only downside is a little more wind hitting my shoulders, but I can cope with that much more easily than having my helmet rattling from side to side as previously.
I've done a couple of big trips with this set up and it makes a big difference at motorway speeds. Only tip is, keep checking the adjuster bolts..one of mine fell off while I was riding. I told Palmer about it and they sent another, no quibble, free of charge. So good after sales service too..
